Start peppers indoors 8 weeks before your frost free date. Sow seeds 0.5cm deep and keep warm (27-32C). Pepper seeds germinate slowly in cool soil. Move seedlings into larger cells or pots when first set of true leaves appear and keep plants warm. Plant out in well drained, fertile soil rich in phosphorus and calcium once there is no chance of frost and the soil has warmed. Row covers and black plastic mulch can extend the season by providing extra warmth.
