In 1892 James King established Cedardale Farm in the fertile fields of North Dumfries, between Kitchener and Cambridge, Ontario. Four generations later, King's great-grandson, Tim Barrie, farms Cedardale and operates Barrie's Asparagus Farm & Country Market. Tim's parents, David and Miriam Barrie, began growing asparagus at Cedardale in 1974 after harvesting seed from Miriam's family farm at Alliston, Ontario - at the time, her father, Homer McMann, had the largest asparagus farm in Ontario. In 1990, David & Miriam developed Namingazi Farm Training Centre in Malawi, Africa through Presbyterian mission work.  Since 1995, Tim and his wife Libby have been blessed to call Cedardale Farm "home" raising their four children there. In every aspect of farming, Tim strives to honour his parents and grandfathers - their integrity, work ethic, and love for the land has shaped his values, beliefs and farming practices.

Organic Kimchi

by Green Table
$9.99

Throughout the year, we use a variety of field-grown cabbage, like Early Wakefield, Napa, Savoy, and Green, hand-chopped with big slices of carrot and radish. Just the right amount of onion, garlic, ginger, and chili. (Just how spicy is it? It’s safe to say medium-hot. We like to be able to taste something else besides chili.) Each batch is barrel fermented and reflects the seasonality of the ingredients. And always, made with 100% pure Himalayan pink salt.

Organic Sauerkraut - Bikeables

Organic Sauerkraut

by Green Table
$9.99

The simplest recipe is arguably the most elegant. Organic field-grown cabbage, thinly sliced, combined with the best salt in the world. Pink salt is unlike regular salt. Harvested from deposits millions of years old, it is 80% sodium, and 20% soluble minerals and elements. This kraut is barrel-fermented a minimum of three weeks before being hand-packed into mason jars. The result is a surprisingly complex, crunchy, and tangy partner to every protein, especially BBQ.

Raw Unpasteurized Carrot & Ginger Sauerkraut - Bikeables

Karthein’s Organic Sauerkraut is obtained through the natural process of fermentation that creates beneficial probiotic bacteria. Unpasteurized Organic Sauerkraut is a new experience for most people, but it’s recorded use goes back 6000 years. Unpasteurized or raw cultured means the sauerkraut is never subjected to heat. High temperatures destroy naturally occurring digestive enzymes and beneficial bacteria such as various strains of lactobacillus.

Finding new “ready-to-eat” super food that tastes great and is actually healthy is difficult. Karthein’s Organic Unpasteurized Sauerkraut is prepared the old fashioned way in labour intensive small batches.

  • no vinegar
  • no preservatives
  • no destructive heat processing
  • made with certified organic cabbage and unrefined grey sea salt
  • manufacturing process is certified organic by Ecocert Canada
